Hi
Do you need a VID for a HID USB controlled circuit (such as a 3D printer)?
The HID sorts out the Microsoft driver fee but I wasn't sure about the VID.
Thanks in advance

This question has been asked, and answered, many times before.

Probably many more.
Also, you obtain a VID from
USB.org
. Not from Microsoft. You obtain a
signature
from Microsoft to sign your driver with, that is something completely different.
Notice that is it mandatory to sign drivers since Windows 8 and higher (else they won't install), unless you put the OS in a special (unsafe) mode.
