choosing passives for dc - dc regulator
« on: October 05, 2016, 06:48:27 pm »
Hello again! I'm working on a schematic and I'm currently working on laying out a DC - DC regulator the TL2575-33IKTTR. I'm a hobbyist so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, have I chosen the right parts and are my calculations correct?

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tl2575-33.pdf - regulator
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2059678.pdf?_ga=1.1109745.1783813791.1475409982 - capacitors 100uf 25v and 470uf 25v
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1905824.pdf?_ga=1.26488573.1783813791.1475409982 - inductor 220uh
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/657183.pdf?_ga=1.241887426.1783813791.1475409982 - diode  PMEG2005ET

I've had a go at calculating the ripple voltage, not sure if it's correct or not.

88% efficiency
3.3v Vout
12.5v Vin max
52-kHz switching frequency
220uh Inductor value 0.00022
0.06Ohm cap ESR

3.3 / (88% * 12.5) = Maximum duty cycle = D = 0.3

(Vin max - vout) * D / (fs * L) = 241.258 = inductor ripple current

irc * ESR = 14.475 (mV??) = output ripple voltage

I don't know how bad I did, but any feedback is appreciated!

need a bigger diode but otherwise fine.
an ss12, ss13, ss14, ss15 etc would work fine.
