EEVBlog Differential Probe and Keysight 3054T ?
« on: December 01, 2019, 11:14:32 pm »
Hi,

I am looking for an "inexpensive" probe for looking at some switching PSUs and taking a couple of measurements. I got a quote for approximately 2k€ for a Keysight original. Since I am paying for this stuff out of my own pocket I am wondering if I should not just go for the probe that Dave is offering.

This is the probe I am referring to:
https://www.eevblog.com/product/hvp70/

So I am asking a newbie question, just to make sure this is compatible and suitable for SMPS work:
Will the probe be ok for use with the Keysight 3054T  ? I guess it is, but I would like a positive confirmation before sending across the planet.

Thanks a bundle
Saskia

The HVP70 will work on any scope that has a 1Mohm input.  I have one and use it on a Keysight 3104A.  Works great.

It's a good probe for SMPS work.  Make sure you comply with the derating curve as shown in the HVP70 manual when working with high voltages/frequencies.
