3. Hidden from view; concealed

RF engineers are literally masters of the occult.

It's understandable from the manufacturers point of view, if people are doing the "shut up and take my money" thing then most companies will shut up and take the money.  It's like going into a pharmacy (apotheke) in Europe, seeing a row of bottles of water, and asking the staff why they're selling small bottles of water as remedies.  The response I had was that if people come in and ask for homeopathic remedies they sell them homeopathic remedies even though they (the staff that is) know it's just water.

Having said that, given that it's FNRSI who knows what you're actually getting.  You could have the Ghost of Christmas Past standing right behind you and the rebadged student project you're holding tells you nothing.  Defpom has a teardown here, there's not much to it.

I don’t know why do people keep paying for electrostatic fields detectors. I see tons of them lying around in dumpsters, waiting to be taken. You help environment too this way too. This kind, here pictured during a successful detection of an electrostatic field: exhibit.

He is no longer supported? I think his earnings support him well! But if you speak of the ghost, do you confirm that the ghost is dead?

I’m still trying to bite the problem from a different direction. There are many paths to the same conclusion. Not only through appeal to scientific knowledge delivered as ridicule.
