EPROM adapter has mystery component on board?
« on: January 05, 2019, 08:31:39 pm »
Hello everyone.

I've got a device which stores optional ROM based expansions on a custom PCB. I'm looking to make a batch of adapters to fit plain 27C010 onto a compatible adapter as these boards aren't really available anymore.

It seems pretty straightforward as all but one leg seems to be connected in a very basic manner. However i'm confused by the small component at the top. I thought it was a tiny capacitor but it seems to be labeled "JP3" on the original boards. It doesn't look to be any kind of jumper though. Do you guys think it is a capacitor? On the other side of the board is nothing interesting, just the solder joints, but i wanted to include a photo of both sides.

I've attached a photo of both sides of the board i am talking about. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

It's a capacitor

Thanks, what is its purpose in this circuit? I'm sure it is there for a reason but i am not too sure what it's needed for
