fan vs power supply
« on: November 11, 2022, 05:29:06 am »
i just got this fan and ac to dc power supply

problem is the fan turns on for 2 seconds then goes off for 2 seconds repeatedly

the fan runs fine off a battery

the fan draws 1.5 amps and the supply only puts out 0.8 amps , but i wasn't intending on running the fan  at full speed

is the problem just an undersized power supply??

I think it's the power supply that shuts itself down due to overcurrent.

looks like your correct , i just ran it off different 12v supply and was able to fully  speed adjust  the fan with a  simple 100ohm pot

update , if i start the fan off at a low speed and turn up the speed via the 100ohm pot im able to get  1.5 amps out of the original meanwell power supply that before was cutting in and out,  and has a max of 0.8 amps

I think using a 12V,2A power supply will be fine.
