Faraday cage for around 1MHz
« on: July 02, 2020, 05:58:29 am »
Hello, I'm looking to build a Faraday cage for a home brew NMR machine. The parts of the machine which will generate noise and need to be shielded from noise are the AC coils, and mine will be operating in the single digit MHz range. The coils (a few turns of copper wire) will fire short bursts at field strengths of less than a tenth of a mT. Would I be ok using something like 1/16" steel plate for the cage, in order to block outgoing radio noise? Also, do I need to ground the cage, and if so, what should act as the ground?
