Title: feeding 72watt to the ts100

Hi everyone,

So I am just getting into electronics got myself an Arduino to just mess around to learn the basics of programming as well as soldering.
So I also ordered an ts100 (idk why just fell in love with it) but if I use a 24v 3A power supply it will generate 72watt but the iron is rated for 65watt, would this burn the iron or will it just work fine and only use 65watt? I can't find a cheap power supply for it that is 24v and 60 watt, I come across 24v 48w, and 24v 72w.

The power supply doesn't generate 72 watts. It has the capability to produce UP TO 72w and maintain the voltage at 24v.  It only produces as much as a device demands from it. 

So as an example, if your soldering iron is warming up it may pull 30-50w, when it's already hot and just works to maintain temperature then it may only use 10w or less pulsing the iron on and off periodically.
