| first oscilloscope |

so i might be getting some extra spending cash soon, and now i am looking at buying my first proper oscilloscope. based on my budget and what is available it will likely be a used analog scope. i see a number of attractive looking scopes, but i am not quite sure what to look for or look out for. I'm seeing quite some Philips scopes on Marktplaats, some models with higher bandwidth than the ones you're linking. Don't know if they're bad, have you considered them? I went for a PC based scope. I'm an electronic engineering student and wanted a portable solution. I got the Picoscope 2206B. 50 MHz bandwidth, 500 MS/s, 32 MS buffer and a arbitrary waveform generator. As a first scope, and as a student, I'm thoroughly pleased with mine. The Picoscope 6 software is great too as it includes a decoding feature for things like I2C, SPI etc. |

Utilizing single analog channel while leaving other free. In very controlled setup I managed to "tunnel" full 8 bits thru analog channel. 4 will go with very large safety margin. So about 6 bits wide bus sounds reasonable.
