Fluke Scope 105 Battery options vs DIY.
« on: June 01, 2019, 11:19:50 am »
Objective of the post.
1. How to build a good bat for the Fluke.
2. Beg for the service manual. 105B So I can figure out how to build a PCB replacement for the keyboard foil. And chk the bat part of the circuit.

If you look at most of the DIY options for the bat.
Things seem to be over complicated.

If you see what is being sold on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00444NTZQ/ref=psdc_552354_t1_B002DQA6NU

All these look like 4x18350 bats with no board.
This would give you about anywhere from 3.7x2= 7.4 V or max 4.2x2=8.4
Most 18350 bat has a max Mah of 1000 so at best your going to get 2000 Mah more like 1500 Mah in most cases.

Your next option is to use 18650 x 2 which would give you about 3000 mah. Way better than those crappy 18350 bats.

But I would like to confirm that I can fit two 26650 4200 Mah bat into the compartment. This would any day be better than any 18350 bat you pay 20$-30$+ for.
Here is the one Im using

My only problem is that when I chk the voltage at the charging tab I get 7.8 Volts.
Im not sure if this is right. It should have been more. Maybe my power supply to the Fluke is not original its 12 volts vs the stock 15. But everything seems to be working. I did find one guy who built a bat pack. And he was talking about the voltage at the tab being 8.5 Volts. Fluke 97 I think. But everything works fine even with 7.8v. And the bat would last forever if I only charge it to 7.8

Lastly I need the service manual to see if it has any info that would help build a PCB to replace the Foil. And study the bat charging bit.

I work at the race track so my scope needs to last me thru a weekend. And I am sure the 26650 bat will do a better job than anything else out there.
