Title: Function Generator Rigol DG1022Z
Post by: stefanvr on July 11, 2017, 09:13:52 am
Hi all,
I just bought a function generator DG1022Z from Rigol.
Is there a way to change the output signal?   i connected it on the base of a transistor with a large resistor and i get 250 mv on it.   With a 5V pp on the screen.  It seems its gives me just 1/10 of the voltage.
 :(

Hello and welcome Stefan!

1. Can you confirm, that the output is not loaded? (no current flows out of the output)
2. If you measure the voltage with a oscilloscope and a 1:10 passive probe: Can you confirm, that the division rate of 1:10 is adjusted on the scope to compensate the voltage drop?

Well, have you verified that the DG1022 is outputting properly? Connect it directly to a scope, you should see 5 Vpp on the screen. The only setting that would change the display amplitude to match an expected output level when connected to a circuit (specifically 50 ohms) would be the load setting in the utility menu (50 ohms or high Z). But I don't think that is your issue.
