Fusion 360 - layout tricks for repeating circuits
« on: June 16, 2022, 06:09:19 am »
Hello dear EEVBlog fans,

I'm working with Fusion 360 and I'm curious about tricks with layouting, because now I have schematics with several repeating items (H-bridges) and is it possible to do component placement a little faster or should I clench my teeth and work?

Previously I've never worked on Fusion 360, then it might be a stupid question, but better to ask, right?

I know KiCad has a "Replicate Layout" plugin, which works as follows:

1. You do the layout of one sub circuit.
2. You place one reference footprint for all the other sub circuits.
3. You run the plugin.

The plugin takes all the tracks of the first sub circuit, copies them to each other instance and also places all the other footprints relative to the reference footprint of each of the other sub circuits.

In your program (Do they not call it "eagle" anymore?) you can probably do something similar:
1. Do the layout of one sub-circuit.
2. Use some copy operation to copy the tracks to other locations.
3. Move and snap (does snap work in that program?) the other footprints to the right locations.
