Futaba M402SD10FJ VFD(Display) drawing excessive current.
« on: March 11, 2024, 11:14:30 pm »
When I apply power to the input pins it will draw 2 amps at 3.3 volts, the datasheet says it should only be drawing 300MA at max. Anyone have any ideas? This is a brand new display that just arrived today, though it did also kill an esp32s flash while being properly hooked up. No dead shorts anywhere that I could find probing around.

Hah, apparently 3 of the Parallel Input pins are configured to output 5v with how the jumpers are configured... whoops. That explains the esp32, but what about the excessive current draw?
