Books on Power electronics
« on: April 05, 2014, 07:14:48 pm »
Hey Guys,
                 I was a bit in to more Power electronics these days and I was wondering is there any book, website, videos which you would recommend on power electronics. I was looking for contents like power supplies, inverter circuits. I have worked with linear regulators, Switching Power supplies but I want to know more, I also want to understand more in current control, current sensing, digital control and other cool stuff. I have Art of Electronics book, looked in to it but couldn't digest much of it.
             I am a beginner so would love to have a book which explains from basics.

And one things guys donno why but I hate reading books / long blogs, do any of you have such problem ?  |O
I am working hard on it by reading forms and books but still much left to improve  :phew: . Is there anything you guys know to solve such kind of problem.  :-//

Thank you guys.

Must have books for power electronics.

@diyaudio Thanks for recommending  :-+ Are they all about only SMPS or they cover linear supplies, DC to AC inverter and what about other things like current measurement n all ?

@yashrk

Yes, some of them cover some linear aspects. However regarding your question about DC to AC and current measurement those two are diverse aspects.

1) Current sense techniques papers are available for FREE see AD analogue.com, on semi, ti, maxim they all offer this knowledge for FREE the knowledge is fragmented its just a google search away.

2) DC to AC conversion involves lots of sub important aspects like "basic" control theory, compensation techniques , magnetics (the toughest of them all), switching dynamics, EMI, parasitics and efficient PCB layout (yes even this is important) experiment with trial and error, books do help but you need to actually simulate and prototype. learn a simulation package (very well) don't do what most foolish people do simulate using real work packages its not the same thing.

Take everyone's option with doubt (even mine) and do research to prove it, to many people want instant answers and nobody want to do the Math and rather take the advice and repeat the stupid mistakes and misconceptions. like example the classic paralleling of a 100nf cap with a big electrolytic caps to improve efficiency in switching power supplies.

;) have fun.
