I am familiar with kvl, kcl, thevenin, norton, nodal, mesh, supernode, supermesh, and using kramers rule. I’m getting back into it. So. What do you do when a circuit has a short?

The compinents on the right can be ignored as the short bridges them. In technicalnterms, the potential on both sides of the components is the same (shorted), therefor the voltage across them is 0V, therefor the do nothing

In case of a short, both nodes at the ends of the short can be considered the same. Voltage at both ends must be equal. In the above schematic, that means no current into the capacitor and resistor on the right, because there is no voltage difference over them.

The capacitor branch has no influence on the circuit because of the short you can just erase it from the schematic and it would be the same (in reality because of the wire resistance you would get a tiny bit of current on the capacitor but almost nothing)

come on... that is just a 5V voltage source with a 2 ohm load
what do you have to analyze?

With all due respect, my point was that he did not mention about it. He took a lot of time explaining what happens after the "short" but I wanted to encourage him to complete his train of thoughts/analysis. If you think it is a stupid question, that was not my intention. If he did not think about it, now you have given him the clue! He asked a question and he himself found the answer but partly. Or, at least he explained only partially. If this was a class room I am sure the teacher would ask him that. You need to think why I would pose that question rather than trying to be a smart ass trying to ridicule me. Please don't bother replying.
