alternative for NUR460
« on: May 16, 2018, 12:43:23 am »
Hi, i am trying to repair power supply of smart tv and i have found that diode NUR460 is shorted,but this diode has been discontinued and i have found an alternative to it which is MUR460. its characteristics looks similar to NUR460  but i want to confirm if it will work without any problem as i am fairly new with repairing power supplies.
datasheets:
MUR460 http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2047391.pdf
NUR460 http://ween-semi.com/documents/NUR460.pdf

The diodes look pretty similar to me - current, voltage, forward drop, reverse recovery.

If this is part of an SMPS circuit there is likely plenty of other component damage than just the diode. You'll need to thoroughly check all components.

yeah one of the MOSFET and fuse is also blown.
i made a mistake while ordering this diode,
the old one had forward voltage of  1.28 volts but the one i ordered have forward voltage of 1.05 volts.
do you think that would work? shipping charges are way higher than actual components on digikey and element14

You need to read the datasheets more carefully - they are the same! But you should also go look at their curves.

NUR460 4A 25degC => 1.28V
MUR460 4A 25degC => 1.28V

MUR460 3A 150degC => 1.05V
MUR460 3A 25degC => 1.25V

In any case a minor difference should not be a problem in an SMPS. The reverse recovery is more critical and this is comparable between diodes too.
