Hi everyone,
I was wondering about if i could improve the preformance of DS1054Z oscilloscope in FFT mode after i watched Dave's great video about the subject...
So now i wonder how to improve the preformance of DS1054Z FFT mode?

Install latest firmware 4.3.2.3 sp2

Thanks that realy helped :-+

in case you missed it...

Thanks Mechatrommer I just did the upgrade and it is quite an improvement.

Also take a look at http://rheslip.blogspot.be/2015/09/software-spectrum-analyzer-for-rigol.html (http://rheslip.blogspot.be/2015/09/software-spectrum-analyzer-for-rigol.html)
If you change the code a little, you can make it work via VISA over network as well.

will it work if the 100Mhz hack is installed?
-
sure why not?

It would be great if the guys from Rigol had a look at a venerable, ancient Lecroy 9400 :) (*)
Even though the slow M68000 CPU can take more than 20 seconds to refresh the FFT if you go too far, you can select the number of points, real/imaginary/modulus, etc.
I guess that, once you have the FFT implemented, it doesn't add any cost in performance terms to give it some flexibility.
(*) I've got an old one and that one was my first exposure to digital oscilloscopes with math operation before purchasing a DS1074Z :)

Umm, wow how did I miss this update. Can't believe that's from almost a year ago. It looks like it makes the fft function almost usable rather than the joke mine currently is. Does the firmware also allow the decode functions to work on the entire memory rather than just the displayed on screen trace?

for higher than 12Kpts that Rigol FW offered. i use this SW to extend the FFT capability...
http://www.soasystem.com/download/visadso/ (http://www.soasystem.com/download/visadso/)
20Mpts FFT, 50Hz resolution bandwidth (RBW) DC-500MHz:
but currently only 200Kpts is published, more memory FFT needs further testing...
200Kpts is already 10-20 folds than the offered by the built in FW...

man, of course it does, it is simply, awesome!
u should try it, but be careful! some websites would give u firmware that will damage your scope so be careful...
but still it is awesome! ;D
