The attached PCB has been taken out of an old monitor.

1. Can you please help me identify the boxed components?
2. What is that bold drop on the biggest capacitor?
3. Two MOSFET radiators are grounded, but not the biggest one, why?
4. What is the point of the flat metal piece near the AC power plug?

Inductive components may be wound individually for this design.
Number of pins?
If 2 - it is certainly simply choke.
If more - I don't know.

2. What is that bold drop on the biggest capacitor?

Just glue to fix it.

3. Two MOSFET radiators are grounded, but not the biggest one, why?

Are you sure these are MOSFETs and not voltage regulators?

4. What is the point of the flat metal piece near the AC power plug?

Have no idea.
May be to shield partially (using edge currents) the field from this inductive component from going directly to AC supply cable what could exceed EMC emission limits (by using this cable as antenna).

Top center is the switch mode power supply transformer. Bottom center is the mains common mode choke for interference. The two on the left are the high voltage transformers for the two CCFL backlights.

Are you sure these are MOSFETs and not voltage regulators?

Indeed, these are Schottky Diodes SRF10-10.
