Help: Identifying a component on the SMPS PCB
« on: October 25, 2023, 07:22:07 am »
Hello fellows,
I would like to know what this component is on the SMPS PCB. It looks like inductor but I am not sure.
After Full bridge rectifier, these components are coming.

Hello,
Thanks for your support. What purpose are they used? When not normal resistors? What is the difference? Could you help me shortly, please?

They are normal resistors, MELF is package type.

They were popular for a while, before being mostly replaced with the package type we use now to reduce cost.

You can still get them though, for some obscure things.
They perform better for long term stability, moisture resistance and reliability.

The color codes are the same as normal through hole resistors, afaik
