Help me figure out what these T12 codes mean.

What's the difference between BC, BCF, CF and C  ?

What's the difference between D and DL ?

I have a hard time understanding T12 tip codes...is there a guide or anything ?

It looks like each tip size and shape has an ordering code. This is a surprise to you?

I find only 3-4 types useful, so there is no need to investigate all of them.
D24 is a universal tip. BC1 for small SMD (but possibly not for ultra-small). And there are several types convenient for large wires: D52/D4/D32/CF4/C4/BC3/BCF3.
As for me, I use mostly only two tips: D24 and (sometimes) BC1.
