Help me find this 8pin touchpad connector
« on: January 27, 2025, 07:39:18 pm »
Hi everyone, this is my first post, and I need some help.

I recently salvaged an Asus ZenBook 14 UX425JA that had liquid damage. A part of the board controlling the fans, speakers, a USB-A port, and the microSD reader burned out, but I’ve already found a replacement.

The bigger issue is the 8-pin touchpad connector on the motherboard, which is also burned. The damage is on the plastic part of the connector and the connector itself. The traces on the motherboard seem fine to the naked eye.

Does anyone know where I could find a replacement for this connector? I’m attaching photos for reference. Thanks in advance!

FFC connector, # of pins and pitch (probably 0,635mm, measure with caliper) and whether contacts are top or bottom.
The board is also damaged, do you feel confident fixing it?

buona fortuna!
If you are not used to this kind of soldering job, buy a couple more of them.
You will need a flux pen and solder wick, hot air would be beneficial.
No pencil type soldering tip, small chisel preferred.
