Question on batteries
«

Can someone explain to me what the significance of the white wire is on this battery? As best I can find it is some type of "detect" line but I'd like to know more or how I can use it for testing purposes. I know there is charging circuitry on a PCB before the cells but, wouldn't detection be measured right off the positive terminal when voltage is applied there?

Either a data line to a battery IC or a temperature sensor.

tooki is correct. Its a communication data bus for the BMS (Battery Management System). This type should only be charged by a smart charger.
