Help with lm386

how could i turn off lm386 when i plugged headphones and lm386 on when headphones not plugged . im using this circuit

You could connect a switch between any ground of positive voltage in the circuit or just between pin 4 and 2 ( 4-------. /  .----2 )

But what kind of switch that would turn on when headphones not plugged and turn off when headphones plugged

That i cant answer.You could use a pressure switch or just a microcontroller.

Standard headphone sockets are available with a built in switch to provide a closed contact when headphones are inserted.
