Quality WLAN amplifier one can actually buy?
« on: April 18, 2022, 03:12:37 pm »
Hi.
I'm looking for this for years, but still no satisfying answer.
Just something similar to the picture, but from a reliable brand.
I want it to be "power in, antenna in, antenna out", no software config needed. At least cover all 2.4 GHZ bands, and 802.11n compatible (It's better with 5Ghz ac and MIMO channel in one unit). At least 1 watt output, with bi-directional gain(also amplify received signal to host), and AGC.
All I can find are either not a reliable brand, or cannot buy directly.
Does anyone know a suitable one?
Thanks.

How would it work with a weak device at the other end?

Over 1 watt into the antenna is illegal, so you aren't going to find a reliable brand making such equipment.

What exactly are you trying to do? Wifi range problems are usually not solved with more power.

telephathy !

I've always wondered about that.
If we could just combine telepathy with large FPGA's... you just think about some functionality and the FPGA implements it. put a solar cell on the back (with a small battery for nighttime of course) of the FPGA.. imagine the possibilities ! no more mucking about with wires , or wifi or whatnot. no more need for development toolchains or VHDL or other crap.

That's why I want bi-directional gain.

I did find a few, but they need quote, not selling directly.
