ESP32-S3 - IO15 & IO16? GPIO?
« on: Today at 01:13:26 pm »
Hello

Short question.

Can I use ESP32-S3's IO15 and IO16 as regular GPIO instead of resonator input?
(Arduino)

Thank you

You need that crystal to have Wifi.
And likely the software which is used, based on the ESP-IDF will not support using it for something else.

Those are the input for a low speed clock (i.e. 32 kHz watch crystal). As long as you don't plan to use the RTC with an external clock source, you can use IO15 and IO16 as GPIO. The main 40 MHz crystal is under the can of the WROOM module.
