Hi!

I have a Samsung UN40D6000XFZA version H302 that has vertical lines and I am trying to understand what is wrong with the TV.   I do not believe the T-CON board is bad.   If I unplug one of the two cables that leave the T-CON board and go to the edge driver PCBs (I believe that's what they're called), half the picture on the TV disappears.   The lines are on both halfs of the LCD panel, and are almost symmetrical.

I thought maybe the cables which I believe are called COF (Chip on Film) cables, that leave those edge driver PCBs and get connected to the panel itself had some issues.   I think they use ACF (Anisotropic Conductive Film) to attach these cables.   I tried pushing on the cables light like, while the TV was on, to see if anything changed, and nothing happened.

Could someone help me understand what exactly is causing these vertical lines, and perhaps confirm that I am use the correct names for the various boards and cables?   I have uploaded some pictures.

Thanks!

The polyimide LCD Pixel Ribbon  is separating  from the LCD panel or PCB connections . Can be re-seated with a T-Tip Soldering Iron Adapter like this.https://www.banggood.com/Soldering-Iron-T-iron-T-tip-Head-LCD-Pixel-Ribbon-Cable-Repair-Tool-p-1117299.html?ID=48784&cur_warehouse=CN

Those are those cables with the chips soldered in the middle, that go from the edge / driver boards and connect directly to the panel?   I originally thought and suspected the same, if those are the cables you are talking about.   However, when we gently rub our fingers on them, putting a little pressure down, nothing changes, which makes me think that's not the case.   In other TVs that had that problem, the picture would always change by doing that.   Are we certain that's the issue?

Thank you for helping

What iron would I purchase for those tips?  I currently have a Weller wx2, with the wxp120 iron, and the wxmp micro soldering iron.   I do not think those tips would be compatible with the irons I have.

Any Soldering iron that takes standard tips.

Check that all the ribbon cables are well seated and free from oxidation .If the connections to and from the T Con board are good then I would suspect that The T Con board is at fault.

Yes, that is what I normally do and did.   I suspect it could be one of the chips inside one of those cables.   I don't think T-Con because it's on both sides of the TV.   The middle "error" is almost symetrical.   Part on the left side middle, part on the right.   This is a tough one for me because of that....

I am tempted to replace those cables that go directly to the panel using those T-bar iron tips, if I can find replacements.   I'd need some ACF tape as well, I believe.

I'd feel a lot better about this if I had another T-CON to test, but they're a little pricey.

Thanks for the help!!!!!
