Title: Hot air and Preheater jumping off point?

I purchased a hot air station and a board pre-heater.  When using my regular soldering iron, I set it at 600F and then go up or down as I might need to.  Normally it stays there.

I'm wondering what the same might be for the pre-heater and hot air station?  Is there a general jumping off point you use?
