I've been staring at this for a while now and I can't figure out how to get the hook tip on my oscilloscope probe.
It comes like this:

I remove the IC cap and it exposes the tip:

I slide the hook tip on but it doesn't stay on and it isn't making contact so no signal gets through.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

With my Rigol, I have to push the hook tip until it clicks in place.

The witch hat is where near pushed down enough to be fully seated. Hard to tell on the pic, but I'd figure needs to slide another 1"/2.5cm or so yet (you'll feel it bottom out/can't be pushed down any farther).

You guys were right. I just wasn't pushing hard enough. I thought the probe tip would bend if I pushed too hard.
Lessons learned: Remove the IC cap before putting on the hook tip. Didn't do that for one of my probes and now the IC cap is jammed up in one of the hook tips. Good thing hooktips and IC caps are only a couple bucks on eBay.
