« on: January 08, 2022, 03:41:58 pm »
I just started out learning electronics.. i bought the book name electronic devices conventional current version by floyd. the only thing i have  learn right now is about atoms and current in semiconductor. do you guys have any suggestion for what else should i read for beginners in electronics. i'm looking for some sort of physics book that can help me learning in electronics.

behaviour and effects of electrons using electronic devices
you have the right forum

others may have better suggestions
but this is my..

Electronic Circuits for the Evil Genius
book set of basic circuit designs

taking electronics for the most basic transistor & 555 ic circuit designs

There's a sticky at the top of the forum for 'primers'.

Quote
“No, no! The adventures first, explanations take such a dreadful time.”

― Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass

I don't think I would want to spend more than 5 minutes on the physics of the deal when I can't actually DO anything with that information.  I want to get into Ohm's Law, Thevenin's and Norton's Theorems and Kirchhoff's Laws.  DC circuits, that's the place to start!

I would probably start with "Getting Started In Electronics" by Forrest Mims
https://www.amazon.com/Forrest-M.-Mims-III/e/B003UGHJVE%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share

I might spend video time at Khan Academy in the EE program

https://www.khanacademy.org/science/electrical-engineering

Or maybe at the Digilent "Real Analog" program

https://digilent.com/reference/learn/courses/real-analog/start

You eventually need to understand the physics of semiconductors but it comes later.  A lot of electronics can be done without this level of detail.  A certain amount of physics is traditional.

Everybody else will recommend "The Art of Electronics" and "Learning The Art of Electronics" (the lab manual) but I'm thinking they are oriented to a more formal program.

Here is a much newer version of the book I used in undergrad back in '69.  It's still relevant but it does spend the first chapter on physics.  Things get started in Chapter 2 "Current and Voltage"

https://www.alibris.com/Introduction-to-Electrical-Circuits-Herbert-Jackson/book/35314301

It cost $10.95 in '69 dollars!  About 3 hours work!

Microelectronic circuits-Sedra,Smith

This is a much better general electronics book than the title would suggest. Yes, it is focused on developing integrated electronics, but it covers a wide swathe of stuff and does it well.
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Hi, if you are looking for college level books:

For circuit theory =>  "Engineering Circuit Analysis" by Hayt & Kemmerly

For semiconductor physics and circuits => "Microelectronics" by Jacob Millman

(Anyone of the older books from Millman is also very good)
