How do you call this sliding switch?
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:20:43 pm »
Hi!

So my mind is melting a little bit and yet again I call for help!

So I got a switch for which I need a replacement part, but I don´t know how to search for it.

It has 5 pins in a row and 3 positions.
Left position you got pins 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 connected. Middle position is OFF. Right position pins 2 & 3 and 4& 5 are connected.
The whole joke is used in a Bosch IXO screwdriver. The switch controlling the direction of the motor is done and busted.

But I am not giving 7€ to an ebay seller for a sliding switch. I could probably contact the local service and have the whole PCB for 20€.
These things shouldn´t cost more than some cents maybe a euro when they´re pushing it. But not 7€! FFS!

If anyone knows so that I can search at Mouser or any other distributor, it would be a great help. Darn screwdriver is useful!

Thanks!
Lefteris

I have slide switches like this one which can be connected to do what you want.

Or you can use a double pole, three position switch (six terminals).

I know but I would prefer that the tool goes back together as it was.

Seems interesting. Care to share part number? Or are you selling?

If you go with an off the shelf it is called a dpdt(double pole, double throw), center off switch. If you go stock it will be from the manufacturer or one of the outfits that sell replacement parts and you need a part number. Run the number of the tool and if somebody has parts there will be a diagram. Take the key number for the switch off the diagram and see if the part is available. It will be badly over priced with an outrageous shipping charge if you can even get it. It just occurred to me. Does the switch stay in the two run positions or do you have to hold it. In the latter case it add the word momentary to the description at the top.

Have a look at ebay items 223271149080 and 223450546984.

You should be able to find it locally or online at Mouser or other sellers. Just look for slide switches.

Since the OP never mentioned the make and model or showed any pictures, it is problematic that any particular switch you select is even going to physically fit. It is not a breadboard circuit. Having owned a few similar power screwdrivers, most are a momentary rocker or slide switch.

Bruh, I do mention that it is the direction switch of a Bosch IXO screwdriver. It is a slide switch and it handles only direction. They use a micro switch for the main action.
Plus these are pretty standard switches as far as pin pitch goes. Though I got to say, design wise they are in the last century.

It's a bad/cheap design

For $.033 I think this will work:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Drill-Switch-3-Files-Accessories-Switch-Button-Screwdriver-Switches-Reverse-Toggle-Switch-Pistol/32955376763.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000014.1.61763ce9tqLBPD&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.13338.112237.000000000000000&scm_id=1007.13338.112237.000000000000000&scm-url=1007.13338.112237.000000000000000&pvid=d0e81624-d977-4e64-9800-7f1a15fd69dd

Oh I think that´s it mate! I´ll have some ordered! Will be trying to find something similar locally or from a EU/US distributor in the meanwhile, just cause it won´t be nice to
have such a down time with the screwdriver. (Although I got a second one, but the Bosch has quite more torque that the B&D I got).

Thanks a lot mate! I will be updating!
