Buying Individual Pins for Common Connectors

I feel kinda silly for posting this, but...I've been searching high-n-low trying to find how to buy a stock of individual male pins for common connectors (e.g., the various styles of ATX PC power supply connectors).  Not a full male connector (although some of those don't seem that easy to find, either..) - but the individual pins that go into manufacturing a complete male connector.  I want to solder wires to them and then "break out" individual pins to connector to other parts of circuits. What is it should I be searching for called, as I seem to only pull up full connectors regardless of the search terms I've tried to use?  Also, what are the common sizes that I should have a stock of?

Ah - "contact" was the missing bit when I was searching.

connectors and pins are a complete nuisance unless your dealing with metal industrial/military connectors that are fabolously well documented and standardized.
