Panametrics NDT US transducer and oscilloscope.
« on: December 06, 2020, 12:06:34 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate some help on a problem I am having. I am a doctor from Ireland and I want to buy the

"Panametrics 26 UltrasonicThickness Gage Detector" - which i saw on Ebay (costsly around 600dollars with shipping)

This is for my Masters Research project which will be testing the properties of fake kidney stones! (My background is Urology)

This kit was used with the 54201A oscilloscope in 1993.

I would buy the Panametrics kit but I am just wondering would this work with any oscilloscope or do they all have different connections between receiver/oscilloscope. (I don't think I could afford an oscilloscope as well so I am thinking of borrowing one of these if I can find it)

Thanks very much in advance,

Charlie

Almost certainly it will work with any oscilloscope.  Definitely do NOT get a 27-year old scope, it could be a huge effort to get it running.
A modern digital scope should work fine, I THINK, but don't really know what sort of screen presentation you are supposed to get.
I actually have a 54200A, it works fine, but the menu system is just about the worst thing I have EVER had to use.  Anything newer should
be much easier to use.
