How is pulse mode useful in a noise generator?
« on: July 16, 2019, 02:06:44 am »
Based on a recommendation, I'm looking at obtaining one of these broadband noise generators for use evaluating RF filters in conjunction with an SDR:

https://g8fek.com/noise-gen.html

Because I work with LF/VLF gear, my first thought was to go with the BBGen+ model, which covers down to 20 kHz.

The only thing I'm stuck on is that I see the BBGen-pulse model includes a 5 Hz pulse mode.

I doubt that I would need or use it, but how is a pulse mode useful in a noise generator? How is it typically used?

To distinguish noise from the noise source from other noise.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".
