By "based on stock" I mean for example I have a TONNE of 74'00s, it's weird.

I was looking for a quick tool online or something to simplify logic expressions and I really couldn't find much, http://www.32x8.com this was quite handy....

I would have even settled for like a wiki or "catalogue" style page, "here's X made in a variety of different ways" (eg for a mux or XOR gate)

If I can't find anything I'll dig out some textbooks and write something (I've got experience from writing compiler optimisations :) )

BUT I'd very much like the reader to post whatever he or she thinks might even be remotely relevant so I can take a look at least at the interface and whatnot and reinvent as little of the wheel as possible.

Cheers

That was one of the things Logic Friday could more or less do (based on type of gate and number of inputs rather than by IC p/n). See https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/74-series-logic-design-equation-optimiser/
See https://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/line-follower-and-logic-gates-simplification/ for an example of using it.

Also see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso_heuristic_logic_minimizer
