Serial Decode Error on Rigol DHO812
« on: January 01, 2025, 04:52:43 pm »
Decoding a 1200 baud 7 bit Event 1 stop bit serial protocol via a Rigol DHO812 gives me an "S" and a "P". I guess they are errors but does anyone know exactly what they mean? Thanks and best wishes for 2025!

The P indicates a parity error and the S indicates a stop bit error.

I think you want 8n1 setting (8 data bits).

I did various tests - the protocol is 8E1, I had never seen one. Now everything works thanks. :-+

I can see that now in the screenshot.  I don't think I have ever come across a device actually using parity in RS232 comms; I can't recall ever having used anything other than 8n1.
