My Hantek 4202C saves waveforms on a USB Stick in a .hws format.
I have tried but can't seem to find a way to make these files to open.
Any ideas?

Did you ever figure it out? I have the same model and I am beating my head against a wall. I don't find anyone or site mentioning this strange format (except this post)

Could it be that the .hws files are only for displaying on the scope itself, and that you need to save as a CSV file to be able to view it on a computer?
