Here is an SMD LED. It's used as a back light. Now I know I could buy SMD LEDs, but IDK of any that output the light backwards. Do you?
<- Why didn't that work? Ugh...

Thanks!

Reverse mount or bottom entry LEDs.

This looks like a regular SMD led soldered backwards. It may be helpful to see the picture of the other side.

Reverse mount LEDs exist, but they usually designed for flush mount with the board, so not in a typical SMD package.

Ok, it looks like they also exist in regular packages. The lens size is increased in that case, which makes sense. So, picture of the other side would be helpful for sure.

Your bigger issue in finding a replacement would be the color/temperature match, especially with unknown aging on other parts. If there are not a lot of them on the board, you may have to replace all of them to get uniform backlight.

You mean like this one? Digikey calls them "bottom entry"...

Those are the ones I was thinking about originally. This is not the bottom entry, this is just a reverse mount. There does not seem to be a consistent naming across distributors and vendors. They will be like regular LEDs, but they will have taller and more square lens to accommodate the board thickness.

Like this https://forum.digikey.com/t/reverse-mount-smd-leds/3548

Mouser calls all of them Bottom View, and then you can filter by the package type to remove the ones you linked.

But look on the other side, it might be just a regular LED flipped. It does not sound likely, since pick and place process would be non-trivial, but who knows.
