I can't believe people complain about this on breadboards
KL27x:
--- Quote ---Permanently bridging them seems like a lot of work for no real benefit. Takes about 10 seconds to stick a couple of preformed jumpers across the rails and leave them there as long as you like.
--- End quote ---
But you only have to do it once, instead of wasting that 10 seconds every single time you use the breadboard. Or if you just leave them in there, it wastes breadboard space.
Let alone the time to find or make those "pre-formed jumpers." (I don't use pre-formed jumpers. Tried them. Trashed them. They waste my time, sorting/storing. And once the connections increase enough, you can't use them anymore, because you've built a mound of criss-crossing connections.)
Buriedcode:
I've always used staples (for paper) as the jumpers as they appear to have a standard "spacing" of 0.5" and are thin enough not to damage the contacts. Plus they're cheap. This means they can be used to connect the power rails to the vertical contacts (handy for logic with lots of things connected directly to VCC/GND) leaving the awkward connections for actual wires - which standard 0.7/1 hookup single core does just fine.
Breadboarding is still a pain for anything other than simple circuits, so I tend to build modules with stripboard and turned pin headers.
