Rigol DS1052E Custom Computer Software
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:18:34 pm »
Hello, So here is what I want to do, I want to use my DS1052E to log data though a custom program running on my computer. However, to do what I want to do I need to write my own software to do this. I would like to use the COM port using the RS232 interface, but I don't know what protocol they use when communicating, does anyone know where to find this information?

Why not start with checking the documentation provided by Rigol? From the Documents page for the DS1000E series on rigol.com:

http://www.rigol.com/prodserv/DS1000E/document/?act=view&itemid=239

I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

I did look at Rigol, but for some reason I must have missed this... Thanks

and why COM port not USB? what ide you are using to develop the software?

It really could be either, I will probably start it to work with a COM port, I have done that a hundred times with no issue.

I am very interested in writing some custom code for a dedicated test system using the Rigol DS1102. I was going thru Rigol's C#.NET example (my language of choice) but it won't work with the C#.NET Express version and it requires purchasing some expensive National Instruments software (not just the free VISA) to get the proper components.
I wanted to use USBTMC but can't find suitable Win7 drivers. Can you point me to examples of some source code (any easily accessible language), hopefully Windows based, that would allow me to download data from the Rigol scope.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have just released code to download data from the Rigol scope:

Alternatively, you could use sigrok-cli since sigrok supports this Rigol model.
