I dunno; you crimp advocates may be right, but it's hard for me to imagine that such a mechanically-squozen connection could 1) be better than "smushed + soldered" and 2) actually be degraded by soldering.
Crimping two things together simply deforms one against the other, or deforms both against each other, correct?
Now someone here mentioned that this actually kind of welds the two things together, but I have a hard time believing that this is anything like a real weld (you know, with heat and all), where the two things actually get melted into each other.
And if the "smush" is well-embedded in solder, wouldn't that provide a superior mechanical as well as electrical connection, since the two things are completely surrounded by once-molten metal (well, at least that's what's hoped for)?
