Title: Identifying ICs on a ebook reader board
Post by: chamod on March 07, 2015, 08:56:36 pm
I was bored and took apart my ebook reader and took a look at the PCB. I identified most of the components, except for couple of ICs. It'd be great if someone can point me how to identify them.
The QFN16 was close to the E-Ink screen connector. Other one was close to MicroSD adaptor and NN1001 optical touch sensor controller.

P.S. - I'm not attempting to repair or anything. (It is not broken). I just looked at the components and the data-sheets to get an idea about the design.

Thanks

The QFN16 is a BQ24074.

The QFN40 is... supposedly a MSP430V325 as evidenced by this link (http://naberius.de/2013/06/19/collected-exploring-the-tolino-shine/) and this link (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225838), but there is no mention of any MSP430Vxxx devices on TI's website. On the other hand, they obviously exist (http://img.114ic.com/product/b20141029145292994.jpg) and there are many other models, some with "interesting" descriptions... (http://distributor.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp?Searchword=MSP430V) ???

Thanks for taking time to reply :). How did you identify the smaller one? Is there  any way to relate the numbers on the chip to a part number or just by experience?

Ah that makes sense. Thanks!
