A quadcopter is a toy. The manufacturer will not publish spec's for any of its parts. Quadcopters, helicopters, model airplanes, model cars and model boats sold by Horizon Hobby have detailed manuals online listing their parts and their part numbers for the parts. |

Having a full open source/open hardware quadcopter is not easy. Indeed the quad is composed of many parts, and some of them may not be open hardware ( like the ESC). It also very much depends the range of quadcopters you are looking for. A possible solution is the well described model publish in the DIYODE magazine ( you have access to everything online for free) https://diyodemag.com/projects/part_one_take_flight_with_h4wk By the way, DIYODE is a very nice new magazine on electronics, with very pertinent projects and tutorials. This model which is of relatively large size has a lot of possibilities, but will not come cheap. Consider 800$ or more depending on the options. Open hardware/Open software : You can use open software for all components : - Open TX for the radio transmitter. Be careful to choose one that support it. Taranis X9D is an example that is provided with it. http://open-txu.org/ For the main controller board, there are several options of open source software. Adupilot, pixhawk PX4 and several others. It does not mean that the board will be always open hardware. There is plenty of information available on the web : as examples https://www.dronecode.org/ http://ardupilot.org/ http://px4.io/ And the very good youtube channel Painless360 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp1vASX-fg959vRc1xowqpw I have not much time to do more, but hope this will be useful as a start. |
