| Inductor rise time questions! |

So, let's say I have a C = 1uF L = 100uH RL = 0.5 ohm (which I will ignore for this case) and 1. Vc = 100V and I discharge this capacitor into the inductor and next 2. Vc = 500V and I discharge the capacitor into the inductor. I would expect that as per the equation VL = L. di/dt. The rate of change of current di/dt is proportional to the ratio VL/L and since L is constant the rate of change of current should increase with V. However for both cases I find (in LTspice) that the current reaches the peak value at the same time. I mean same rise time of current for both cases is the same. I was expecting the case with the high Voltage to reach the peak current value earlier. What am I doing wrong here or is my understanding wrong in this case?! Thanks in advance! |

VL drops 5x as fast with the higher voltage, so while di/dt starts higher it also drops correspondingly faster. |
