Integrating Harman Kardon speaker into car

(1/1)

andrewlapham:
Hey guys i picked up one of those nice Harman Kardon Onyx Bluetooth speakers from my local thrift shop the other day and the sound quality is superb! anyway, i was thinking i would like to integrate it into my old Mazda 121 as the stock speakers are pretty terrible.  I'm just having trouble figuring out how i should merge it into the car audio ecosystem.

The car currently has a small BlueTooth stereo that drives 4 small speakers. i would like the main head unit in the car to still drive the front speakers but have the back speakers replaced with the Harmen Karmon Amp.. somehow..

The car stereo has 4x RCA audio outputs and the basic speaker harness plug
any ideas??

Psi:
The bluetooth in your car stereo is a Bluetooth audio receiver, so you cannot use it to send audio to the Harman Kardon speaker.

You have two options as i see it

- Keeping the Bluetooth -
Buy a bluetooth audio transmitter
Pair it to the Harman Kardon speaker
Connect the bluetooth audio transmitters audio inputs to the RCA outputs for the rear channels

- Rip device apart -
Rip out bluetooth PCB from the Harman Kardon speaker and wire your existing rear speaker wires to the drivers inside the Harman Kardon speakers.

So I've been snooping around inside the speaker and found the audio inputs for the driver(s). would I be correct in assuming I could push audio from the RCA OUTPUT in the back of the car stereo into the Left and Right channels of the driver? As there are two drivers on this board I guess ill have to follow the traces to where they meet up and inject my audio at that point, would this magic spot be on the DAC?

Also, any information on the ADC + DAC would be helpful. I'm guessing this is a bridge between the Bluetooth module and the audio driver?

Picture is attached

Just after posting this image (wow taking a picture really help with enlarging the detail!) I've noticed that the left and right inputs from the driver do in fact run through the block of capacitors and resistors in the middle straight through to the DAC's analog output pins
