Aoyue 2703+ problems
« on: October 12, 2020, 08:48:29 pm »
Hi There

I have just brought and Aoyue 2703+ and while I wasn't expecting to have bought a top high end brand I'm still pretty disappointed with it.
I have just tried the solder iron and the hot airjet. I have set the solder iron at 380°C and it can merely melt the common SN60Pb40 alloy which should melt at much lower temperature. The hot airgun jet has no jet power at all, very very very low.
Do you have any suggestion?

It's a very old overpriced model. Soldering iron will perform better if you use larger tips and or tips of better quality. It has diaphragm pump which while having low airflow also knocks off components relatively easily due to it's pulsed airflow instead of continuous flow. Fume extractor is a useless trash. Not only it obstructs soldering and significantly cools down soldering iron tip, it simply passes air through itself without any filtering and blows it out of the hot air gun  :palm:.

Get rid of this junk. And don't buy anything from Aoyue since you can buy the same or similar low quality equipment 2-3 times cheaper from other Chinese brands.

4 in 1, sucks at all functions. Get them separate, or at least 2 in 1. Not to say fume extractor of this form factor will suck no matter what. So forget about it.

is there a way to mod the station to improve it? I don't know ..changing the pump? Or the heating element of the solder iron?

Well, you could use better cartridges for soldering iron, for example genuine Hakko. If you did not try using soldering iron without fume extractor, try it. Probably it will make it acceptable as is. As of the rest, nothing much you can do with that unless you want to almost make another station from ground up.

Stations like Yihua 992da are the same as mine?

Basically i had decided to buy this aoyue station because i have paid it 120 euro, it was an offer, so isn't much but i have to say that I'm disappointed anyway. Maybe I'll see if i can return it back.

I will return the Aoyue station to the seller.
If there is any alternative station to this one I will be interested. I have seen the Hakko 4in 1 that cost something like 4000 euro which is a monster price for me. Is there somethind decent not super professional as my use is not intensive.

You could buy this https://eleshop.eu/quick-706w-two-in-one-station.html There is no desoldering tool though. But hot air is way way better. Also it's build from quality components and build quality is also much better. Unless you need to desolder something in large quantities, I would simply buy inexpensive manual solder sucker.

That 4 in 1 has 2 soldering irons. There is no trashy fume extractor.
