Learning how to use an Hp8903a
« on: March 28, 2017, 03:05:10 pm »
Hi, looking on how to use a HP8903a properly for testing amplifiers etc,

With the pic in the link below I'm measuring the output of my Leader Lag-120b its set at 20khz as you can see but with the distortion is it measuring at 0.0261? Am I reading that correctly?

Thanks

The % annunciator is lit so the reading is 0.0261% which is a reasonable value for distortion of an audio generator.

Thanks for that, so to test the specs (shown in pic in link below) what would I set it to?

The manual for this is here:

http://exodus.poly.edu/~kurt/manuals/manuals/HP%20Agilent/HP%208903A%20Operation.pdf

End of section 1 has some basic measurements explained and 3-38 onwards details each of the options.

This guide will take you and a signal generator through the key functions of an 8902A.

NP, it's a fantastic guide in my opinion to show the basics of the 8902A. The only downside is that it assumes you know why you'd want to measure what you're measuring.

The 8902A is a great piece of kit. I went out and bought the microwave down converter (11793A) for mine. Been very happy with it.

If you don't have the 11722A Sensor that goes with it then you can build your own. I did a video on it here:
