Author Topic: is anyone using the book "Learning The Art of Electronics A Hands-On Lab Course"  (Read 2681 times)

Is there a good open courseware type lecture series based on an actual classroom progression with notes and exercises that would be good for EE study?  I guarantee something like that would be the closest you get to a functional self study.  It would suck without office hours, but better than a stack of textbooks and nothing else.

...I think there are a fair few credible YouTubers who have good basic content, suitable for self study - one example I like the look of is Aaron Danner's Circuits for Beginners

...unfortunately navigating (scrolling) to good content is quite time consuming.

I haven't come across anything quite like that. But +1 for Aaron Danner. I am slowly working through Learning the Art of Electronics on my YouTube channel (new videos on Tuesdays), but I am working through it very slowly and I am not an EE expert or an experienced teacher.

Thanks a heap for bringing this set of books (Lessons in Electronics by Tony R Kuphaldt) to my attention!
The labs are much easier to follow and all books are 'free open source for downloading'.

I seem to remember that Tony was a proponent of what is called electron current convention.

That is he counted current as flowing from negative to positive.

This was a fashion around the time he wrote that book.

Most folks continued with the older conventional current convention where the direction of current flow is taken as from positive to negative.

Consequently many of the equations Tony offers have a negative sign in some places, compared to the same equation in conventional current textbooks.

All you need to do is use one system or the other consistently and not pick equations from each in any working you do.
