Title: Is my soldering iron (Pinecil) dead? (re: used incorrect tip)
Post by: sofakng on May 14, 2024, 06:59:13 pm
I have a Pinecil (https://pine64.com/product/pinecil-smart-mini-portable-soldering-iron/) portable soldering iron and a KSGER 2.1S and I accidentally confused the tips by using a T12 tip inside the Pinecil which uses T100 tips.

Now the Pinecil doesn't detect the T100 tip when it's inserted AND it gets incredibly hot (including the body of the iron).

Is the iron dead or is there maybe something I can check?

I only have one T100 tip so I can't try a different tip to see if it does the same thing...

What does the pinecil say for the temp when it is heating up? If it is low then probably the temp sensor is busted.

The most probable causes are damage to the temperature regulation circuits or the thermocouple.
