Relay or transistor help
« on: February 09, 2024, 04:05:55 pm »
I’m looking for a device that will switch normal open to close when 8vdc 1mA is applied.

Does the switching side need to be  isolated from the control side ? whats sort of voltage and current are you switching with your 8v 1ma?

It’s creating a short to key an amplifier.

A Kenwood transceiver? Try a 2N7000

I should have put more info I’m tapping into a 8vdc TX source and want to use that 8 volts to close an isolated normally open contact will go to a rca jack on the rear of the transmitter. I’m thinking a relay of some sort but not exactly what type since I only see 100mA on the 8vdc.The amp is a simple short to ground for operate. I just don’t want to be bothered using a foot switch.
Not sure of one of these would work?

Hows about a 9v jobbie like https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/8046.pdf seems to  kick in at 7.2V and only wants 16.7mA

I would use an optocoupler like a 4N32/4N33 or TLP4597.
