Is this module a buck converter?
« on: April 03, 2021, 11:21:26 pm »
Is the linked module a buck converter? It doesn't directly say so but it has a coil/inductor?  :-// Obviously I'm no expert.

Thanks

Edit: probably it's not a buck converter. Buck converters are more efficient? This one is:

Yes, if it's a regulator with an inductor and the output voltage is lower than the input voltage then it's almost always a buck converter.

It's a small buck converter, a low cost model from China you can order for 1/10 that price on AliExpress or Banggood.

Similarly, I've been using these from MPS, lots of safety features and effency for the price.
Over current protection OCP,
Over temperature protection OTP,
Over voltage protection OVP,
Short Circuit protection SCP,
Etc..

The ME3116 is PWM DC/DC buck (step-down) regulators. With a wide input range from 4.75V-40V, they are suitable for a wide range of applications such as power conditioning from unregulated sources.
